How to Make Yourself More Marketable

Hi Fabulous Working Females! This week, I want to talk about how to make yourself more marketable. It’s a dog eat dog world out there, we are up against others with degrees, experience, and their interview experiences when going for a job. You may sometimes wonder, what did that person have over me?

*does a twirl walking into the office every day*

No, not like that. (but also, FABULOUS! gives me ideas, lol). What I mean by “Do Something Extra” is to do things to add to your resume, credibility, and opportunity to learn. You may think “I don’t have the time.”

Trust me, you have the time. It just depends on how passionate you are to dedicate that time and make some sacrifices along the way. I promise, it will be worth it!

Offer to take up an additional project at work! This is your time to shine, FWF’s. It will be a lot of work, and I’m sure you already have a lot on your plate, but taking on a side project will allow you to…

· Display your knowledge

· Show your dedication and work ethic to upper management

· Allow networking opportunities

· Your voice to be heard

Become a real *certified hustler*, FWF’s. There are TONS of online certifications available, some free, some not. Even if you have to pay out of pocket, there is no investment like your future! And sometimes, companies offer reimbursement for courses and certifications related to your career-be sure to look into this! Getting certifications allows you to:

· Show you went above and beyond to learn

· Broaden your skill set

· Takes your resume and LinkedIn profile to the next level

Mentorship programs such as one of my favorites, “She Runs It.” can provide you with a lot of inspiration and growth opportunities if you are in the New York or Chicago Area. Joining a group or mentorship program allows you to:

· Broaden your network

· Attend career based events

· Learning opportunities

· Sense of community

· Looks FABULOUS on your resume

Check out She Runs It. Here!

That’s all for now, FWF’s! I hope this was helpful for you, and that you continue to rise to the top in whatever your passions are. Remember, DO SOMETHING EXTRA! Here at Fabulous Working Females, we are *gone with the WIND fabulous*-Kenya Moore.

And remember…
