Tell us about yourself!

I always cringe at the question, “tell me about yourself.” I can tell you what my favorite food is, where I grew up, or my hobbies. But, most people seem to love hearing most that I’m a young working momma of twins and recent college graduate. There is something about giving birth to twins at 19, taking 7 years to finish my bachelor’s degree, and working full-time that get’s the ooo’s and ahhh’s. I love it! However, motherhood doesn’t define me and I say that all of the time. I’m a full-time employee for Wells Fargo where I serve my customers as a personal banker. When I’m not working my 9-5 I’m blogging over at www.sharkmom.com. I developed this brand in order to break the stereotypes that surround young motherhood and give them the inspiration, motivation, and information they need in order to be successful!

Before any of this, I dreamed of going away to school and getting my degree in speech pathology. I did just that, racked up over $15,000 in student loans, and never completed that degree. I ended up getting pregnant my sophomore year and dropping out of school. I disappointed my family, and became depressed from all of the negativity and hardships I went through. Life was hard, and I had no one going through the same things as me to relate to. I had to figure out how to support my children, and complete school so I could provide them a better life.

I was working as a daycare assistant for a little while, and then got a job as an insurance agent. I got licensed and thought I could make a career out of that since it was a good gig. Reality was, I hated it. I was jumping from agent to agent and super unhappy. When it was time for me to think of what was next, I got the opportunity to interview for the position I hold now as a personal banker. Something about the finance world and being customer facing keeps me content so I’m rocking with it! Not only that, but I was able to get myself together and complete my bachelor’s degree in business administration. Now, I’m in a really exciting time of my life where I’m finally consistent and dedicated to a brand/business of my own and that excites me beyond words!

What are your Aspirations?

I envision my life to be a very purposeful one where I provide the tools and knowledge to young mothers around the world so they can be successful. I aspire to continue breaking stereotypes that surround young motherhood in a monumental way. I also aim to build a community of strong, dedicated and motivated young mothers and travel the world in order to do so. I have a lot in store to uplift this community and I'm excited to bring it all to life. Along the way, I also plan to be looked at as an expert digital marketer and help entrepreneurs build their brands in order to impact even more people. Marketing has a huge spot in my heart and helping brands to impact their target audience has an even greater one!

Can you describe what makes you feel FABULOUS while working?

The absolute best thing about working is being a woman, and a mother at the same time. Setting the bar high for us as woman brings me joy, but being able to achieve greatness while mommin’ it makes me super proud! The way woman have changed the game for us as working woman drives me to be the best version of myself possible. It’s something about breaking the barriers that makes me feel FABULOUS. Working makes me challenge myself and I learn a ton about myself while doing it. What I’ve learned recently though, is that working on something you're passionate about is the best gig out there. Many say that when you’re passionate about something it doesn’t feel like work. Well, I disagree. It is work, it’s very hard work! If you want to make your passion profit, you have to HUSTLE, but that in itself still feels great because the world feels limitless when you start being purposeful!

Thank you, Amanda, for proving to us women that we can still thrive in our careers professionally, while also being a fantastic mom. It is women like you in this world that define what it means to be “Superwoman”. We know the future will be nothing but bright and fabulous for you, and we look forward to following along!
