Fabulous Working Females

Weekly Spotlight Feature

Introducing, Meghan Foley

Meghan Foley, 2018 SUNY Oneonta Graduate, is skyrocketing in her career at an early age. Working for Virtual Enterprises Inc. by day in helping students start and run their own virtual business through the companies network, Meg also recently just started her own candle company Meg Eileen Candle Co (linked below).

A Fabulous Working Female in every way, Meg shows us that we as women can always find the time to both grow our career and start our own side business in our spare time if we have the dedication and drive to do so.

Tell us about yourself!

Hi! My name is Meghan Foley, I am a business education program coordinator by day and a candle maker by night! I work for a company called Virtual Enterprise that teaches students business by doing business and allows students to start up and run their own virtual business in our network. My favorite part of my job is seeing students grow their confidence while finding a passion in business and learning real life skills that are important for outside of the classroom. Working with this company led me to find my passion for business as I started my own candle company in June 2020 called Meg Eileen Candle Co.

I graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 2018 where my days were filled with class, work, internships and dance till late hours so I guess you can say I can never sit still. “I’ve always loved having a busy schedule from a young age between school and sports so it is no surprise that in addition to my full time job at VE, I run my own small start up business and at a restaurant on the weekends. I still have a lot to learn about myself and my career but I use every day as another reason to get better!

What are your Aspirations?

I aspire to make a difference in the world while developing myself and my career, and hopefully helping others along the way I love working and I love feeling like I have a purpose. Working for Virtual Enterprise allows me to connect with and support many high school students from the New York Metro area who are learning valuable life lessons they may not be taught at home. Some days I help the students and some days they help me! The beauty of my program is that I can provide opportunities that allow students to achieve their dreams that they might have otherwise thought impossible. This gives me fulfillment and ignites my passion to bring my best to work each and every day.

Can you describe what makes you feel FABULOUS while working?

The thing that makes me feel fabulous is making other people feel fabulous. Most people are dealing with some sort of stress in their life and I feel best when I go that extra mile to be able to put a smile on someone’s face or ease some anxiety.

I will always go out of my way to help a co-worker or friend to help make their day easier even if it is something as small as telling them they're doing a great job. Knowing that I was able to make someone’s day even slightly better makes me feel fabulous. A smile goes a long way - even if it is hidden under a mask!

Thank you, Meghan, for being an influence to both your students and peers. It is women like you who make this world a better place, give hope for our future generation, and inspire us to follow our dreams. We know the future will be nothing but bright and successful for you, and we look forward to following along!
